Biography

Guojie Wang is currently a professor at University of Science and Technology Beijing. He received his Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry and Physics from Jilin University (China) in 2000. He worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Tsinghua University (China) from 2000 to 2002. Then, he joined Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences as an associate professor. In 2005, he moved to the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Georgia Institute of Technology (GIT, USA) as a research fellow. After his one year stay at GIT, he moved to the Department of Chemistry at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium). In 2008, he joined the School of Materials Science and Engineering at University of Science and Technology Beijing as a full professor.

In 2023, selected as senior member of the Chinese Chemical Society. Served as Expert in Evaluation System for Academic Talents (Evaluation of Professional Titles in Universities/Institutes of China) from 2023 to 2026. Selected as Excellent Reviewer of Chinese Journal of Polymer Science (English Edition) in 2022. Won the Postgraduate Education Award (Excellent Award for Guidance on Postgraduate Thesis) from University of Science and Technology Beijing in 2019. Served as Committee Member of the Biocomposite Materials Branch of the Chinese Society for Biomaterials from 2017 to 2026. Served as Expert in Reviewing for National Science and Technology Awards of China from 2016 to present. Won the American Chemical Society Membership Award in 2015. Selected as Excellent Supervisor for Postgraduate Students Top 10 Academic Stars at University of Science and Technology Beijing in 2014. Selected as New Century Excellent Talents in Universities in China in 2011. Selected as Excellent Talents in Beijing in 2010. Won the First Prize in Beijing Science and Technology Award in 2005.


Research Interests

Prof. Wang's research interests are focused on functional polymers, biomedical materials, photoelectrical materials, energy materials, nanomaterials, and their applications. He has published over 130 scientific papers in primary journals with total number of citations over 5800 (h-index 41) and owned 32 Chinese authorized invention patents.
