Biography

Dr. Zhangjian Zhou is the professor of Materials Science and Engineering at University of Science and Technology Beijing. He received Ph D degree in Materials Science at USTB. He worked in Research Center of Juelich, Germany as a visiting research fellow during 2007 to 2008. He heads the Powder metallurgy and nuclear reactor materials research group at USTB. He is also a Member of International Advisory Committees for FGM’S and a Member of the Advisory Editorial Board of the Journal of Nuclear Materials.

Research Interests

Design, synthesis and processing of new grade materials to meet increased quality and property requirements application for extreme environment (such as Advanced Nuclear energy Systems). This involves the application of powder metallurgy techniques to the production of nano-structured materials, advanced composites and functionally graded materials. The recent research falls into following major areas: (i) ODS steels and Fe-Cr-Al-(Ni) alloy for advanced energy system. (ii) Fabrication of ultra-fine grain sized refractory metal alloy for application as plasma facing materials in fusion reactor; (iii) The joining tecnologies for heterogeneity materials using the concept of FGM.
