Foreign expert Professor Michael Kraft attending first PhD student academic session, School of Materials Science and Engineering Conference Room



On May 27th at 9 AM, SMSE hosted Professor Michael Kraft in room 313 of the Main Building. Professor Kraft, who is an expert in MEMS, was invited to SMSE as part of the Department of Materials Physics’ PhD academic exchange.

High-energy Supercapacitor: From Electrodes Design to Devices Construction, Spin-Orbit Torque Induced Magnetization Switching in Heavy Metal/Ferromagnet Multilayers


First, the magneto-electronic materials and devices team’s PHD student GUO Qi delivered an English academic report titled “Strain Control Mangnetism,” while the nano-materials and devices group had PHD student ZHENG Xin give a presentation titled “High-energy Supercapacitor: From Electrodes Design reports to Devices of Construction.” Afterwards, the magneto-electronic materials and devices team’s PHD student Abebe of Ethiopia delivered a third report titled “Spin-Orbit Torque Induced Magnetization Switching in Heavy Metal/Ferromagnet Multilayers.” Finally, Professor Kraft delivered his presentation on his research areas and micro-electro-mechanical, electrical and nano systems. Professor Kraft then concluded the event by giving analytical feedback on the research work of the three PhD students.

With frequent interaction between professor and students, the session lasted for two and a half hours. Following the event, doctoral students commented that they were impressed by Professor Kraft's expertise and were more inspired to develop their own research projects.
